12-5-12 BACKGROUND CHECK UNDER REVIEW.

GONNA BE A WAIT..... I AM EXPECTING 60 DAYS...... BUT HOPING FOR BEFORE JAN 11TH WHEN I GO TO WISCONSIN ON TRIP.

Here's mine so far... I'm not too far ahead of you guys. Once it got to BG review it moved fast. Hoping for plastic tomorrow (I guess that technically would be today) or Thursday.

Online App and Finger prints - Late Oct.
CHL Class - 11/10
Mailed - 11/14
Material received/Background Check started - 12/6 (seemed like FOREVER)
Background Check Completed/Manufacture pending - 12/11 (darn fast)
Manufacturing - 12/12
Mailed - 12/13

And I have PLASTIC!!!

Congratulations! I'm definitely hoping my background check/manufacture/mailing process will be as expedited as yours was.

Nope, if I get a status update on the background check before Friday I'd be pretty surprised. The guy that had his done within that super short time period definitely seems to be an exception to the rule.

They still seem to be moving applications along at a fairly quick rate based on what I've seen (not going to get into specific dates):

Background - Last Week.
Manufacturing - This Week.

Check the stutus for the wife and I this morning and we are both still in background check. (Mailed 11/20)
I'm going to guess that today is the last day of 2012 that they will do any real work on it. I assume there will be a lot of folks on vacation. In fact, to may be a wash. I don't expect any movement until after the new years

I checked this morning and my background check status was just updated. Ironically, every status update I've received has been on a Saturday.... coincidence.... probably.

Here is my timeline so far...

Online Application: 11/26/12
CHL CLass/Fingerprints: 11/30/12
Submitted Documents: 12/03/12
Received by DPS: 12/05/12 (sent return receipt required)
Background Review: 12/31/12 (Under Review)

26 days to get a status change from "waiting to receive documents" to "under review".
Expecting review to take as long or longer.
CHL class trainer said at the time (Nov 30) that the average was up to 8-10 weeks at that point for clean applications.
TX DPS will probably process well over 200,000 applications in 2012. (180k last year)
My bet is that will increase to 250k+ for 2013.
Which makes me feel good that the trained population is catching up on the bad guys!

Got my plastic yesterday, mailed paperwork 11/19. I had to run to CVS to get a couple of things yesterday so I thought I would see how it felt. I have a XD40 sc carried in an OWB holster at 4:00. Didn't feel to odd although I was pulling my shirt frequently. Then I went to checkout. Wallet in back right pocket, a bunch of people in line behind me. Really stressed about getting my wallet out without revealing. Guess I'm going to have to carry my wallet differently.

Status just updated to mailed this morning. It looks like (at least for now) once DPS acknowledges receipt of your paperwork you're looking at a little under a month-long wait.
