'High-capacity Assault Rifle clip'? Really?

I cannot support the petition. I would not support the prosecution of anybody carrying around an empty 30-round magazine, period. It doesn't matter if I like the guy or not...I can't support attacks on gun rights.

Just a minute ago, Fox News reported on this, showing a still shot of Gregory tauntingly holding up the 30 round magazine, and saying that the DC PD is now investigating the matter. It will be interesting to see if Fox News lets the matter drop or not.

I hope they do. It will put the spotlight on the idiocy of banning certain size magazines. Plus it will prove the point no one is above the law even if the law is ridiculous.

This story is finally being reported in the mainstream liberal media

Washington Post
http://m.washingtonpost.com/local/dc-po ... _local_pop" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

National Public Radio
http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/201 ... ak-the-law" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Politico.com
http://www.politico.com/story/2012/12/c ... 85481.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The comments from liberal gun haters are amazing - it's all a conservative NRA red herring - it's ok because it wasn't loaded - it's ok because it was used for journalism/educational purposes - it's ok because he didn't have the assault rifle with it

The irony lost on these folks is astonishing.

Please, no more links to NPR. I keep forgetting myself, and when I go to the links and read the comments, I can feel my blood pressure skyrocketing.

Have mercy on me, please. :mrgreen:

NBC was told by the Washington, D.C., police that it was “not permissible” to show a high-capacity gun magazine on air before Sunday’s “Meet the Press,” according to a statement Wednesday from the cops.

“NBC contacted [the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department] inquiring if they could utilize a high capacity magazine for their segment,” Gwendolyn Crump, a police spokeswoman, said in an email. “NBC was informed that possession of a high capacity magazine is not permissible and their request was denied. This matter is currently being investigated.”
The plot sickens.

Asked police if it would be ok to show gun magazine on TV, police said no.

Oh this is getting so juicy.

Since they have probable cause that a DC crime has been committed, they get a search warrant to search the TV studio for the illegal magazine. Its not there, they don't find it. Apparently maybe it was moved after they found out it was illegal (but they already knew it was illegal) That would be obstruction of justice. Who ordered it moved. Now a criminal enterprise, oh now it already was a criminal enterprise, as some producer, or on air star came up with the idea and ordered the magazine to be legally purchased and then illegally brought into the DC area. Rico statues would apply or is that only in federal cases.

Who handled it while it was in the TV studio, would they all be criminally negligent. Who brought it into the City. Who knew and when.

I mean they might be able to get 10 people charged. Some will turn and take a plea for cooperating.

If I was the attorney for the show, I would be on the phone, making a deal right now to get the magazine turned over into police custody, before even more people are snared in this witch hunt.

After all of this, do you think they would feel that gun laws were fair, or only there to trip up honest citizens.

To bad Wayne LaPierre didn't know his DC gun laws better, he could have whipped his cell phone out and dialed 911 right in the middle of the show.

How do you like this? I just got an email from the DC gummint in response to the message I sent them, quoted in one of my previous posts in this thread. here is their response:
Dear Mr. Annoyed Man:
Thank you for contacting the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia (OAG)---Tracking #203751.
This is in response to your December 25, 2012 email sent to our website. We referred your comments to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) which is the organization that enforces the District's gun control statutes. Here is the response from MPD's Customer Service Unit.

The Metropolitan Police Department is in receipt of your e-mail regarding the David Gregory segment on "Meet the Press." MPD has received numerous e-mails informing us of the segment. NBC contacted MPD inquiring if they could utilize a high capacity magazine for their segment. NBC was informed that possession of a high capacity magazine is not permissible and their request was denied. This matter is currently being investigated. Thank you for taking the time to bring this matter to our attention.

Should you have further questions you may contact MPD at http://mpdc.dc.gov" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Sincerely,
IRVIN B. NATHAN
Attorney General for the District of Columbia
