My reply would have been a series of questions:
Do you want to stay with us for a few nights?
Do you want to visit the range and learn to shoot?
Do you want me to go with you to buy your own gun?
If the answer to any of the above was no, then I would decide I couldn't help her.
If all three were yes, then she could be helped.
Advice on loaning guns from an old boss: "Never loan your guns or your wife - for the same reasons."

it's only fair since you have guns and she doesn't

A bit of wisdom comes to mind. Something about Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, he eats for the rest of his days. I think that applies here. Time to be a Second Amendment ambassador. And glad your friend has the opportunity for a change of heart.
