I don't see any cover-up going on. You have to look at this case objectively. This is a VERY sensitive matter and I am sure the investigators want to be positive that what is released is 100% right.
As one who writes executive level reports for a living, I can tell you the last thing you want to do is fire something off and have one of the upper-level Execs quote it for gospel, then find out later that the info was not accurate. They don't like it and they will definitely let you know about it.
In this case, ANYTHING the investigators say will be splattered across the papers and Internet quickly. So, I think until they have something solid to release along with as full and accurate a story as they can, they will be quiet about all of it.

Sorry for posting any pre-mature or misinformation on another thread but they can't put it on the internet if it isn't true, right?

I suffer from pre-mature postulation.

Sorry, I needed to lighten the mood!

A quick question for current and former LEO and others who worked in or with the justice system.
What do you tend to believe more? The statements somebody makes shortly after the event or the statements they make after they have a chance to talk to their lawyer, their buddies, their buddies' lawyers, and so on.

I just hope the facts are finally available. With no trial, or Warren Commission, will anything really come out? Will the police eventually release any information?
My memory there were suspicions after the Columbine High School shootings that some of the students were killed by the police, but no bullet evidence to my knowledge was ever released or in fact ever taken in the first place.
I fear CSI and NCIS only exists on TV.
After all Houston can't even manage to do DNA testing on its rape kits. And how hard is that?

Do you mean when you really aren't interested in catching and convicting those responsible (from a city leadership point of view) because it would hurt you with the people who vote for you?

The ME did claim the shooting was done with an AR. However, when asked the ME did not know what caliber bullet caused the wounds. Brings up the question "If he doesn't know the caliber, how does he know it was an AR?"

If you are talking about a suspect(s), then the initial interview may be more accurate before they shut down or are able to colaborate on a story. If you are talking about investigators trying to piece a puzzle togehter after a horrific event like this, then I will believe their report after the investigation has had some time to be conducted properly.

Why the silence, after the incident?
So many Qs, and long silence.
I can say from working many high profile cases that it takes time. There is no hurry and one should not rush an investigation. They know there is a media feeding frenzy and the rumor mill is running rampant. It normally takes our local medical examiner 8 weeks plus to have a complete autopsy report. Take this incident, the time could be greater. I think the autopsy report alone will be able to determine if the AR was used or not. As far as why people are not talking to the media, good for them. The media coverage was not good on this event, and some of the stuff they did really irked me.

Depends on the case. You always want a statement when circumstances allow that. It doesn't have to be the 3 hour interview, but you want to lock the party into a statement, whatever that may be. Those that commit crimes will then think up stories after the fact and in the types of cases I worked, families may change their stories as well to protect the guilty.
