DPS received my packet on Jan 7th, and the status just updated this morning to "Background check: Under review". Not bad!

I submitted paperwork via snail mail on January 16, and have seen no change in status yet.
I did the application online, then fingerprints, then the class. I did not get passport photos taken, the instructor in class said it was okay to use our drivers license photo, just write it on the application beside the passport photo spot. Having the same photo on drivers license and chl is a good thing, he said.
While waiting I have been trying to train myself to take notice of signs- 51%, 30.06, etc and also to get comfortable carrying a pistol around concealed in my waistband (at home, of course). Trying out different holsters, etc. Turns out its not that easy to conceal a weapon wearing my usual jeans and shirt....last thing I want is to be reaching for a box of cereal in Target and have some kid yell "gun!" because my shirt is riding up....
For me, having a few weeks to work out the particulars is a good thing, although, like the rest of you, I can't wait to get that card in my hand.

While I wait, I'm trying to channel my anticipation into productive activities:

I just ordered two DeSantis IWB tuckable holsters, one for my pistol and another for my revolver.

I'm giving my kids and wife refresher courses on firearm safety and operation.

Practicing drawing from concealed with my revolver in an old (but adequate) Don Hume IWB. CHL instructor said to do 10-20 reps a day.

Re-Reading Massad Ayoob's "In THe Gravest Extream" and other gunny books.

Reading Steven King's Dark Tower series. Not really CHL related, but very interesting and a good distraction. :)

I hope it changes for you! I checked every morning before work and really didn't expect to see a change so fast. Before the page would load each time I was already saying the paragraph about how they are waiting on required materials.

Background check is finally under review!!!

Kinda thought it would given the received date. I know I was psyched to see green too. Guess now well see who gets manufacturing first!
