The shooter was allegedly Thomas Matusiewicz of Edcouch, Texas (Edinburg, McAllen, Weslaco area), 68 years old.
He used a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun and fired 1 shot into each woman.
A Good Samaritan held the hand of one of the women, who appeared to have been shot in the heart, as she died.
The victims were the 39 year old former daughter-in-law of the shooter, as well as her neighbor.
