I'm gonna beg to differ here. The CHL training standards and time length have been put in place and they are the requirement for all that take the class. If someone who gets to shortcut the time and training requirements is involved in a self defense shooting there is a good chance the training portion will be reviewed. It will be found that person did not get the proper training and the certified CHL instructor was cheating and allowing students to take a shorter class. This will then reflect on the CHL program as a whole that there are those instructors who are only in it for the money and allowing shortcuts.bdickens wrote:lrpettit wrote:I don't think winning a friend was one of his goals in making that post. Yeah, it's the truth and sometimes the truth hurts. If you want to get down to the very root of what is wrong with our country, it is people who can barely run their own lives running around telling others how to run theirs.
So someone else distilled someone else's 10 hour class down to 5.
Does it injure you? No. Maybe. They may not have the training needed and end up shooting me
Does it cause damage to your property? No. Maybe. They may not have the training needed and end up shooting my house or car
Does it take money away from you? No. Maybe as they will go to that instructor because they are a shorter class.
Then it isn't your business. What is really important here, that someone is forced to endure 10 boring hours in a hot, stuffy classroom, or that he can pass the test?
The idea of reporting a condensed CHL class makes me think of a cop busting someone for spitting on the sidewalk while the bank across the street is getting robbed.
Bottom line, if a requirement for having a license to drive a car, fly and airplane, or to carry a handgun exists, then all who do so need to meet the minimum requirements to have that license to drive, fly or carry and if they don't I don't want them doing so and will turn in the instructor to the proper authorities.
