Sadly the way that would have been reported in the MSM is Man pulls gun on actors shooting video. It will always be the guns fault.

I'm with you, Bob. Draw, de-escalate, secure as best as possible (prone 'em BOTH out?) and call for help--let the LEO sort it all out. It's the definition of STOP THE THREAT. It can't happen until you come to terms with what's really happening in front of you

The overreaching teachable moment here is not really "what do you do," "what can/should you do" but the fact that you're on your own, and your own safety is up to you. Granted this was staged, and as suggested before, even the reactions may be staged (if not, they're at least carefully selected and edited), but the best you can hope for (read bet your life on) from the general public is a stunned onlooker to eventually come to terms with the reality playing out in front of them and intervening...which may take several seconds.

The mindset of those of us on this board is much more geared toward actually seeing a violent encounter and recognizing it for what it is--and even most of us would be stunned for a second or two before we reacted...what about the general population who genuinely believes that these things "happen to other people?"

It's food for thought.

I'd be willing to bet that if a CHL/off-duty LEO had been present, and said CHL/LEO had drawn, the janitorial staff would have had quite a mess to clean up.

You guys talking about Texas being different. I have a copy of video from a red light camera in Houston. Two gangs got into a shootout in an intersection. One of the shooters got out of his car, and was gunned down. The other gangsters back up in order to run over the guy who was shot before taking off. When the light turned green, traffic simply went around the body. A guy on a motorcycle weaved around the body in the road and looked at it as he went by. You know who came to help the dying person? The gas station attendant who heard the gunfire. Not a single car stopped.

my daughter showed me this video last night and said "wow, Mom...I guess this wasn't done in Texas. right?" idiots!

I think it would have been hilarious if that one person let the dog chew his face off.

The comment by “Elliot” amazes me. I just can’t understand this type of thinking. It makes me wonder if this person is still in high school, or simply has led a sheltered life. Maybe he has watched too much TV. I just can’t understand it.

If you watched the video, one man was apparently attempting to choke another. This shouldn't prompt ANYONE to take out a gun and shoot first, since the "aggressor" didn't have a gun. The proper response should have been to shout and call others to help assist, hold the door, hell for him to stop, and if no time, then kick the aggressor in the arm or head (since his hands were on the rope), to break force his attack to stop. I am amazed at the responses of those who consider shooting at an unarmed individual.”
I think he intended to say “yell for him to stop”. Oh well.

I am sure most people on this forum have noticed that the media can’t print the name “Trayvon Martin” without the word “unarmed”.
