I think this thread should have been named "People with the wrong values Immigrating To Texas". I was one of those Yankies from rural Indiana. I've lived here 35 years now. I've never had a problem adjusting to the Texas way of life. Texas actually fits me better than where I came from.

Same here- Just change mine to 32 years. I love Texas- but didn't have a choice in where I was born... so realize that not all Yankees are libtards, just as all Texans are not perfect- I live close enough to Austin to see this regularly.


I don't think those people and companies willing to invest large sums of money right now, to get out of those other places, are the types that are going to try to turn TX into NY... think of the cost to relocate.

To play devil's advocate- they bought the land from Texans... so if people are that worried about 'who' is buying the land, they can decline the offer to purchase.

Been here since 1994 from Michigan and won't go back except to visit - and that is getting difficult to justify

All four big Texas mayors support gun control. The last pole I heard, only 55% didn't support gun control in Houston. 5% is not a lot of people.

What I am really surprised about is Colorado. Was it Al Gore that coined the term "tipping point". Wow the transformation in just the last year is amazing.

In my office only 20% of the staff is native Texan.

If you were raised here, you HAD to take Texas Geography and Texas History, usually in 7th grade, and at least be exposed to who we were and how we got to this point, not always a tidy story but it is what it is. That helps understand the values that shape the place.

Maybe newcomers should be required to take the TH and TG course as part of getting drivers licenses. At least they could hand out that cartoon series of Texas history. That was a hoot. I wish I could find my copy.

Had I known I was moving to such a liberal area, I would have moved else where in TX.

A lot of Yankees are very pro gun and would be an asset to the 2nd amendment cause

Some are very anti and will hurt us I think it will balance out as far as guns go.

When we came back to Texas we settled in Arlington for five years then my boss
carried out his threat to send me to Austin

I trust the yankees more than I trust the Austin city council when it comes to gun rights

Let that potential buyer be a member of the protected class and see that backfire in your face.

There are lots of legitimate and legal reasons to decline an offer. Declining based on a protected class is not one of them.

And a way of life I couldn't wait to get back to, despite having been kidnapped from my native San Antonio, by my parents, when I was too young to defend myself, and being forced to grow up in upstate NY. I got back as soon as I could.

I am yankee born and raised. I moved to Texas in 1998. I have loved every minute of it! Texas is a proud state but not unlike many states if you were born there. I was taught the history of my birth state as well. Maybe that should be the pre-requisite for one when he or she moves to a new state.

The state I am transplanted from is by map, a blue state. It wasn't always and really isn't to this day. The people were hoodwinked by the democraps promising jobs to a people who were going through very hard times. They made good on those promises by bringing business into the state. It was at a cost to the people. Unbeknownst to the people, the politicians brought in only the type of business that supported their liberal views. An influx of flatlanders (big city folk that have never done a hard days labor) from surrounding states were encouraged to move there (If you haven't seen the movie, Funny Farm with Chevy Chase, check it out not too far off the mark). The native population have been trying to vote them out ever since but they are out numbered. The proud people of that state have generations that go way back in history are now leaving. It's unfortunate but they are a much wiser and they are less trusting of the government.

Be careful not to broad stroke a label as to make any newcomer feel unwelcome. Texas hospitality is unparalleled in any other state I've lived in outside my native state. I felt very welcomed and I intend to welcome any newcomer that may find a home here regardless of where they hailed from. As it's been said, "I wasn't born in Texas but I got here as fast as I could." If I find out any newcomer has been influenced by liberal views, then I will do my best to persuade them to crossover from the dark side into the light.

Noodle, I'm a NY Yankee, born and raised. I resisted my new Texan feelings for a few years, then all of a sudden, you have a CHL, three hand guns and an AR!

There's nothing like living in Texas. The people, the food, the scenery and, most importantly, the values. If my family wasn't still living in New England then I would only go back every ten years to stock up on real Maple syrup and to watch the leaves change. It is such a shame it went liberal, it is still beautiful country.
