you ask what persons in congress would allow such actions to get to the floor and voted on and maybe passed
simply look back to Adolph
he promised the parliament that he needed to be supreme chancellor so he could protect and govern....as soon as they approved the request and made it law
he fired the parliament and put in his CHOSEN to run the show, with him having FULL absolute authority
his security force the SS had no leash.
then just a few short years later.......well you know the rest

arrest
murder
dis-arming of the peoples
educating children to turn in their parents if they resisted or spoke against his rule

my first thought as well. Our de facto dictators biggest obstacle is term limits. It's perfectly clear our supreme leader has little use for congress or the constitution.

It is no surprise to me that a Democrat would introduce a bill to amend the U.S. Constitution.
They produce an endless supply of gun control bills with the intent that eventually the acumulative effect will be the de facto nullification of the 2nd Amendment .
They know that cannot get an amendment to repeal the 2A ratified by 3/4 of the state legislatures, but they figure they can eventually render it meaningless through a sustained siege of anti-2A laws, and a couple more Obama Supreme Court appointees.

Of course, when they try to do the president for life thing by totally ignoring the constitution then we have the ultimate term limiter, which is the second amendment and the RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS!
