I couldn't help but picture Xerxes in the movie "300" the other day. A truly disgusting sight. Thanks for ruining my lunch.

That is EXACTLY the intention. The left allows only one religion: The State. You may deify and worship The State and its self-appointed elites, but any other worship or belief is heretical, blasphemous, and irrational. Any system of belief that contends there is a higher power than The State, and especially a higher power that would impose moral limits on the exercise of State power, is a threat to The State and the Socialist Collective, and must be eradicated.

Now, if I was a betting man, and I don't claim to be, I'd wager that soldier wanted to get the presentation done in a hurry. That soldier likely used Google and put in a couple of terms that led said soldier by link to the SPLC website. Probably cut and pasted the stuff right from that website, slapped it into a Powerpoint, and viola, presentation done. I do not believe this was condoned by "Big Army" or any other higher level of command. And I hope the individual responsible got a good old fashioned dressing down for this embarrassment from someone of the appropriate rank with skill in doing so.
Could be, but it's sort of funny how these kinds of "mistakes" almost always express a view from the left. Especially when we know that the military is more conservative than the general population, or, at least it isn't more left leaning than the general population. So it seems that by the laws of probability we'd be hearing lots of stories about various left leaning organizations with terrorist tendencies. In fact, it seems like we should have heard at least one story where the SPLC got on a list of left-wing subversives.

You may be on to something here. How about we start our own watch group called the Texas Liberty Watch Foundation and go after extremist groups like the SPLC and its adjuncts, proxies, and surrogates?

Having flashbacks here of Rome and the crime the Christians were most often martyred for was failure to burn incense to the emperor. Great......at least we know the evil one is consistent.

I see that the Powerpoint referred to a LTC (Lieutenant Colonel), but did the LTC put that thing together, OR did the LTC have some LT (Lieutenant) put that together? An LT, educated at some liberal-progressive college there in Pennsylvania? Some of that stuff was probably accurate, and some of it was way over the top...the exact sort of thing I would expect since the SPLC was used as a source.
