As much as I wish we could have minimum standards for politicians (and voters), I keep coming back to wondering where I get off telling people who they can or can't vote for, or whether they're informed enough for their opinion to matter. I mean, we keep bashing liberals for being control freaks, but isn't telling someone that Joe-Bob isn't smart enough to represent them the same thing? Much like a free market risks having price gougers, dumb politicians and uninformed voters are just some of the risks you take when you're committed to freedom. (Incidentally, this is also my main argument against term limits.)

In other words, we need informed voters? Well there is the problem, now how do we fix it?

She is not the smartest person in her district.
Her district was created to coral as many of the folks that would vote for her into a single district, as possible, so they wouldn't influence the outcome of other district elections.
Unfortunately, my home was corralled as well. My family and I vote for the other guy every two years without effect.

You would think she at least has someone on her staff that proofs this stuff!

I like the part where she thinks it would be a good idea to pass a House resolution to enforce the gun laws that we have. Hmmmmm. The House passes the laws, the executive branch doesn't enforce the laws (or actively breaks them as a "means" of enforcement) and now the Congresswoman finds it necessary to remind the executive branch to do its job. Do I have that about right? If her suggestion goes into effect I'm afraid she might lose her "boot licker" merit badge.

Maybe she should attempt to impeach Eric Holder -- oh, wait...

The above comment reminds me of something George Carlin once said:

Think of the ignorance of the AVERAGE person. Got it?

Now...realize that 50% of people are even stupider than that!!

The 18th district has only been represented by a Republican for 7 years since it's creation in 1919. The 18th was Barbara Jordan's district during her historic election to and service in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Ms. Lee is a Yale grad, and earned her J.D. from U.Va . She served as a municipal judge and as a Houston City council member, in which body she championed a safety ordinance that required parents to keep their guns away from children.
Hopes were raised when in 2010 she only won re-election by a 70-30 margin, her lowest vote total ever. Those hopes were dashed when she returned to form and a 75-25 margin to return to congress in 2012.
As an observer residing in the neighboring 2nd District, I posit that Ms. Lee will continue to win re-election until she succumbs to some form of senile dementia and perhaps, given her performance over the years, may continue to win even after such, when no one is able to tell the difference.
