So, a person is okay possessing a firearm in their home within 1,000 feet of a school. What happens when they put the firearm into their vehicle and then drive out onto the street to go somewhere? Now they're no longer on private property.
You still have the right to come and go with it or them for a legal purpose. It really doesn't matter which came first, the school or the resident. If you are legally able to possess a firearm you cannot be denied that right because of the location of a school. This will hardly ever become a problem as many have said it is mostly used to tack on extra charges after some other crime has been committed and local police hardly ever use it anyway since it is a federal crime and not a state or local law.
