That gets annoying
Sure does

Also
People with over 5,000 posts don't get to chime in.
Back to a more serious note: We've had people intentionally run-up their post count simply to reach the magic 45 mark so they could post an item for sale. Fact is, for anyone who lists a for-sale item and who has fewer than 100 posts, the moderators look at the member's history. Dozens of posts during the course of a day or two will get scrutiny, and if we find multiple posts of few, non-substantive words, they all get zapped, as does the for-sale item that was posted.
The 45-post rule is an attempt to set a threshold at which we feel members are here to contribute to the discussions in a meaningful fashion. There has to be a bright line, and 45 posts was decided upon: You don't need to bring prodigious word-count and mellifluous phrasings as does The Annoyed Man, but you have to post something substantive. "I agree!" or "You got that right!" doesn't cut it.
The Forum is entirely non-commercial. That isn't easy to enforce, and it isn't easy on Charles to maintain. There aren't many Forums with almost 14,000 members that don't accept
any commercial advertising, and I can't think of one other gun Forum that meets that description unless itself is commercial in nature.
Soon to be incorporated into the rules is a requirement that more than 50% of your posts be
outside the Market Sections (
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=66128" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) in order for you to be able to offer items for sale.
Bottom line: This is the Texas CHL Forum, not Craig's List or an auction site.
As of December 31, 2012, there were 584,850 Texas CHL holders. By all statistics, we are definably one of the most honest, upstanding, and law-abiding segments of the population.
The Market Sections are not core to the Forum; they are provided as a courtesy to our members. Help us keep them intact by protecting their intent.
And jmactenn: Good on ya! Welcome to the Texas CHL Forum.
