I can honestly say that my daughter can probably spell most of those words correctly, however, she probably could not have at 12. And yes, she was homeschooled...the question is, is the 12 year old winner?

When I misspell something in a post, it is not due really to an ignorance of the correct
spelling, but more that I get to flying down the keyboard to input a lot of text, and goof it up that way.

The person, Ansun Sujoe is a boy, not a girl. He attends Parkwood Hill Intermediate. We live with in the gun free school zone of this school. .

And yes, it is a public school but my kids went to this school and can't spell nearly as good.

I am sure my hubby and I are going to post over each other, but it was a young BOY (Ansun Sujoe) from Keller who won, and he goes to public school. As a matter of fact, he and my son attend the same school, which is a block from my house. However, we are considering taking my son out of school and homeschooling, but that is a whole different story. And to really throw some salt in wound, this young man is in Keller ISD, but we actually live on the wrong side of the railroad tracks (literally) and Keller Proper doesn't like to claim us - most of us are City of Fort Worth, or Keller that is served by Fort Worth, which is really Fort Worth. He is still very smart and a very nice young man, with a bright future ahead of him.

Well, you have supplied me with updated information and I will shortly edit the OP of mine.

I retrieved the original hardcopy of the article from which I drew this thread's data to re-read
where I went astray (factually).

The text in the TCU magazine states "...12 year old Ansun Sujoe from Keller".
Note that it doesn't actually state "boy" or "girl", plus "Ansun" is an ambiguous name to which
a reader is on shaky ground to attribute gender.

The photo accompanying the article is of a young girl who could be 12. I guess in my mind I
assumed that the girl pictured was the winner of the spelling bee. Why didn't they put the
winner's picture in? My credibilty as a scribe is now in the dumper. :-)

It certainly is a small world when a spelling bee champ I read about, in an alum magazine
that I'm not related to, is known to my pals on the gun board. Are you 2 good at the
Kevin Bacon "6 degrees of separation" game?

Now that there is FUNNY! Before I saw the above two sentences, I read the list and thought to myself, "heck, I use about half of those words regularly in my posts here, and I've used the rest of them at least once or twice.

Jimlongley did a jimdandy job of converting this list into something that most resembles a chapter describing the activities of the "Pilgrims" in Italy taken from Mark Twain's "The Innocents Abroad, or The New Pilgrims' Progress."

I will cede the field to his lordship.

But I think this part is the funniest:

The winner was a 12 year BOY from Keller, Texas (near Fort Worth). Her name was Ansun Sujoe.

My credibilty as a scribe is now in the dumper. :-)

After it was pointed out that the winner was a boy, I changed that, but then didn't
update the "her" to "his". I have now completed the additional edit and highlighted it in color.
