Then I suggest you liquidate your assets and spend every day at the track. I'll await your successful results.RX8er wrote:But he was also famously wrong.G26ster wrote:But, alas, as author Damon Runyon famously wrote, "All Horse Players Die Broke."
The few times I have bet on horses (company invites to suites at the park) I have won more than I bet. I am way ahead but several hundred dollars based on less than $100 total bets.
No, no, nope, aint going to happen. I only wish I were skill and not luck. I don't have the first clue about betting on horses or sports. There's a reason I quite and it was only because I got lucky.G26ster wrote:Then I suggest you liquidate your assets and spend every day at the track. Some of the witnesses were identified by name on air by the news reporters. Knowing what I know now, if I were an eye-witness standing 3 ft away when it happened, my answer would be "I know nothing. Didn't see a thing. Don't point that camera at me. Gotta go."

Ya, I have always figured I would help another if I was able, this has got me re-thinking that idea. We could have prevented a crime however at the risk of ourselves and our families. So back to the drawing board on making decisions when to help. The Annoyed Man wrote:It's ok.suthdj wrote:Now as a chl holder think if you were there and saw what was going to happen and intervened in a cartel hit and prevented or took out the hit man.

I've seen and heard it said many times over that the police are not there to protect us, only to come after the crime and take the report. We as CHL holders carry a handgun every day to protect ourselves, not the general public. Why should we be any different than the police? Had I been there and seen what was going on, I would have been putting as much distance between that incident and myself as fast as I possibly could.suthdj wrote:Ya, I have always figured I would help another if I was able, this has got me re-thinking that idea. I'd probably buy a lotto ticket.suthdj wrote:Now as a chl holder think if you were there and saw what was going to happen and intervened in a cartel hit and prevented or took out the hit man.
This right here. I think unless you were standing right there on the sidewalk as a man in a mask with a gun in his hand was walking "towards" you (but actually towards the SUV you happened to be standing in front of) then you would not have had time to react.9mmfan wrote:Methinks it probably went down so fast, nobody would have had much time to intervene. .

I too felt like I would probably help if it was blatantly obvious someone was being victimized and I had time to react. This type of incident gives me pause and makes me reconsider.suthdj wrote:Ya, I have always figured I would help another if I was able, this has got me re-thinking that idea.
