And if you go to the office to pay it they will waive all fees. I'm sure google can fill you in on what type of fine it is. i have a toll tag and I have a choice about driving on a toll road, apples and oranges.

I believe they cannot even report it to the credit bureaus. They may send it to a collection agency to pester you though.

Harris County and others refused to cooperate.
It is my understanding that Dallas county will cooperate (Tarrant county has said they won't), and that you may not be able to renew online, but if you go into the office and they are busy, they may just renew it anyway to keep the line moving.

I wholly support the traffic cams. It pisses me off to see idiots blast thru red lights with no thought of the mayhem they might cause. Know anyone involved in a collision caused be someone running a red light? I bet every one of us does. Obey the laws and drive safely and the traffic cams are not an issue. And stay off your cell phones when driving in the city.

How can the camera see the red light runner's plate in this pic?
The story says.....
Traffic_Light_2 – A silver SUV runs a red light at the intersection of Bill Owens Parkway and Loop 281 during FY 2012.

I doubt that shot was the one used to cite the driver. Intersections with red light cameras have one on each corner. I don't know if they all trip, but the ones that caught me had a video as well as a close up still photo of my rear plate. Both of mine were in right turn lanes, where I did stop to check oncoming traffic, but not behind the white line. Guess I was too far forward and they tripped. I was going to fight it, but the law says you must stop behind the white line before proceeding, so I didn't fight it.

My town has 11 red light cameras last time I checked. They are only on 1 corner though, 2 cameras and 2 flash lens in 1 pole, the one pictured only gets north and south bound traffic on the loop.

Strange. The forum software changes it to "irritated" when I try to use that phrase.

As a matter of fact, I got hit by a red light runner. Red light cameras do absolutely nothing to stop that from happening.
Numerous studies have shown that simply increasing the yellow light duration by 2 or 3 seconds and adding another 2 or 3 second delay before the other direction turns green will all but eliminate red light running. Cities won't do it, though, because then the red light cameras don't generate any revenue. They cease being cost effective. (Translation: They don't get your money.)
Red light cameras are nothing more than a cash cow for the city.

wholeheartedly!
And to prove it, in San Diego when they installed the red-light scameras, the 3rd party contractor SHORTENED the yellow light. After it became known, this resulted in people stomping on the brakes causing rear-end accidents.
Eventually the contractors got smart and just started installing the sensors in front of the stop lines to get EVERYBODY. Eventually the courts invalidated the whole program, and required all fines be returned to those caught. Except, of course, for those suckers beyond the statute of limitations, which the city kept.

Quite interesting.
Your first post on a gun forum filled to the brim with libertarian small-government types (at least among the most vocal participants) is a rant supporting big government intrusive money grabs.

The problem in Dallas is that they just bought software to track license plates using these cameras. They are now tracking everyone without just cause or warrant that drives past a red light camera in the city, and there is no law or mandate that says how long they can store the data. I am guessing it is just a matter of time before other cities start doing the same thing (if they are not already).

I read it more as frustration with people that try to kill you by running red lights. Car safety is as important as gun safety. Unfortunately, there are idiots that ignore both. Personally I think red light cameras infringe on our rights but I still hate unsafe drivers.

Wouldn't it have been cheaper to just ask the NSA?
