Re: Okla. Officer Shoots, Kill Man Holding Child Hostage
I am curious about the weapon the officer used. Rifle – good shot. Pistol – heck of a good shot. I would not want to make a “hostage taker shot” with a pistol so I’m wondering if the police had a chance to get rifles before it escalated.

Great shooting. Another dirt bag bites the dust.

It could only be better had he said "tango down" after squeezing off the round.

I was thinking more along the lines of, "BOOM! Headshot."gigag04 wrote:It could only be better had he said "tango down" after squeezing off the round.
Either way, good job in a lousy situation. Hope he doesn't lose sleep over it.

I have been searching the 'net and so far no word on what weapon used. Either way a good shot.

A well developed sense of humor reflects a highly trained and utilized intelligence.lrpettit wrote:Excellent shots normally take a lot of practice (and therefore a lot of ammo to practice with).mojo84 wrote:What does this have to do with this situation? I was trying (obviously unsuccessfully) to be a bit humorous.

He shot the man point blank range, another officer distracted the man so the officer could execute him.SQLGeek wrote:Excellent shot, indeed.

That was a hostage rescue, not an execution.

Yeah the hostage got rescued and the man was executed on the spot. Agree to disagree.anygunanywhere wrote:Poor choice of words.nightmare69 wrote:He shot the man point blank range, another officer distracted the man so the officer could execute him.SQLGeek wrote:Excellent shot, indeed.

First of all, my comment was before seeing the video.nightmare69 wrote:He shot the man point blank range, another officer distracted the man so the officer could execute him.SQLGeek wrote:Excellent shot, indeed.
Secondly, the scumbag had a knife at a child's throat and was counting down with a threat to kill the child. The Captain used the amount of force required to protect the child's life.
How would you have preferred this situation be handled?

Actually, I think "exterminated" would have been much more appropriate as that is what we do to vermin.anygunanywhere wrote:Poor choice of words.nightmare69 wrote:He shot the man point blank range, another officer distracted the man so the officer could execute him.SQLGeek wrote:Excellent shot, indeed.

I hope that little girl's ears arent damaged...but if they are, that's better than her jugular vein being damaged. Sad situation...but it ended the way it needed to. The good guys won and a crazy person isn't living off the government.
