You could always just wear a back pack with the gun in it. Though if you do, please make sure that the zipper is all the way down on one side, and not zippered up to the top.

Read this post (it's long). Proof that the 1911 design is the safest. a 1911 dropped on pavement at a high speed (100+ MPH) and the hammer never drops. And Springfield was able to fix the gun.
