You change it one family at a time. Ministers could help reach those without strong families if they were inclined to. Don't go the movies that glorify this lifestyle, don't permit the music that does so in your home. Show your kids the truth of the situation. Help them see the real life consequences of actions before they fall.

If they don't have strong enough family ties to tell them unprotected sex is wrong, who exactly is going to tell them the glorified life from movies is wrong? The problem is these aren't families, you can't approach the problem the same way someone with a family would. Your preacher may be a person of authority in your life, but most likely not in these situations. A preacher reaching out about sex Ed is very unlikely to have any impact. if they had a good father/mother to begin with then they would have probably showed their kids the truth already.

My point was and I obviously did not make my self clear. Is that you cannot save the world, but each one of us can try to save our families and have an positive impact on the kids next door. These communities have to decide they don't want to be like this anymore they can change. My grandfather was a terrible racist...absolutely horrible.....my father decided he would not be and his kids would not be. The racism stopped with that generation. It takes a choice.

:iagree:

Access to birth control isn't about money for these folks; its a loss of street cred if they allow/use it, or just an inability/lack of interest in controlling their natural urges. Latest statistics show that the rate of black birth out of wedlock has now reached 73%, hispanics are at 53% vs. 29% for whites. Once the bun comes out of the oven, with no family support, these kids mostly turn to gangs to act as their "family", regardless of how dysfunctional. Fact is, their life at home is likely so dismal, that the gang craziness is no worse, or better. We are ALL (well, at least those of us how ARE paying taxes) living with, and paying for the consequences of this dissolution of the family support unit. Our politicians, those in the above groups, and their "leaders" have NO interest in resolving this lethal situation. Unless the good lord intervenes somehow, we are headed for a bad outcome...... :grumble

IMHO the only thing missing from this conversation, except for bagman perhaps, is this-it takes two to tango. Until we can get the fellas to start taking responsibility for their actions and their offspring, this cycle will never end.
