If bills would be introduced each time that would do just the opposite including defunding “gun violence prevention” programs, it would probably stop or reduce these bills.


TAM, I am sure you know these tactics are not new. The government followed the same script against smoking.

If you can’t outlaw something, regulate it out of existence.
If you can’t regulate it out of existence, litigate it out of existence.
If you can’t litigate it out of existence, tax it out of existence.

Taxes are not being used as intended to provide money for the operation of the government. Taxes are now being used to control the population. This type of taxation should be illegal, period.

I wish it was that simple, then we could just teach people into thinking / voting like us. Reading any sites by groups opposed to our views you might find similar thoughts about what's wrong with us. I think it would do us a disservice to under estimate those who might oppose us politicly by assuming they are unintelligent (I know you didn't say that) or uneducated. It seems like with gun issues, like many other political issues where there are deep and frequently close to 50/50 divides in the country, there are smart, educated people (as well as everthing else) on both sides. We just don't see eye to eye on how to implement policy given a set of facts / history / economics etc. It seems on many big issues there are some very fundamental divides on how society should function and how individuals should relate to each other and with government. This makes it much harder to deal with. It gets scary when trends move in the direction of our side (and pick your issue, even beyond gun rights) falls to the minority side of the population.

I wonder how much time & resources are wasted on bills that are proposed when even the representative knows they'll never have a chance of passing?

For the last 5 years or so, better they spend their time on bills that can't pass, than those that do...
