You're issued two plates when the time comes for you to be issued plates - so what gives?

Are people having them stolen as a regular thing or are do some remove the front plate for esthetic reasons?

Stolen front plate - you have my sympathy.

Removed because you just don't like front plates, I'm sorry but the world is full of things I don't like either, but if it's the law, it's the law...

People love to say well my car is this or that and I won't put a front license plate on it. Get over yourself. The only one impressed is you.

I have a F150 pickup truck. Nothing fancy, so I display both of my specialty plates. They cost me an extra $30 per year, so darn right I'm going to display both of them.

So if the state says you need to rivet a brass plate that says 'STATE OF TEXAS Gun ID #####' on your new Les Baer Custom 1911 you are OK with that?

So if you pay $100,000+ for an Super car that doesn't even have a way to mount a front license plate are you gonna want to go out there with a drill and put holes in your bumper? I didn't spend that much on mine and I still don't and won't. I'll be taking my chances. It's a stupid law and id rather just pay the lawyer fees and fight it in court than put holes in my car.

I agree, it's an outdated law that no longer serves to a need for identity or safety needs. :tiphat: Yet the people we elected, said it stays. So there it is..

But the devils advocate says..
"I'll be taking my chances. It's a stupid law and id rather just pay the lawyer fees and fight it in court than allow them gun nuts in the public office I work at"

Or.

Well Any law that anyone thinks is "stupid " and then justifies ignoring it as such.

All that said, we all do it.....I do daily... I have yet to see the person that obeys all of the man made laws written, signed and on the books..

Perhaps it is because people are individuals.. and as such what is important to some means nothing to you.. :tiphat:
Realising something near and dear to YOU, may mean little to me, but allowing your position that it's important..at least to you is a good trait to have I think..

Lot of people out there think you have no need, right to own a gun, never mind carry it loaded in public.. Should there feelings and personal opinion override yours?

I'm not saying that disagreeing with a law means you should be able to ignore it and not accept the consequences. I'm just saying that i'm willing to accept the consequences of not having a front plate if it comes to that.

You mean like the requirement to pay tax on stuff you buy on the internet, if the seller didn't collect Texas sales tax? How many people have ordered something on Gunbroker or Brownell's and didn't pay the use tax?

Yes this was one of those things I had in mind when I posted... was hoping another would mention it. :tiphat:

And my take daily on things I knew I do counter to the letter of the law :thumbs2:

IMHO, the law isn't a solid thing that people think it is. It has to be broken and challenged from time to time. If not, we'd still belong to England or Mexico. If the law is never challenged, then it will keep compounding on itself until we are no more than slaves to a system. This country was founded by brilliant men who recognized that to be free, the law had to be challenged. Now, I'm not saying that the front license plate law is going to lead to a totalitarian system, but it is a law that is only useful as a form of income for the state/city. We pay taxes for that. I will fight this law in court and hopefully never give the state a dime over it. I feel that it is my duty as an American citizen to fight against laws that I feel are unjust or that I don't believe in. It is the only way we as a people can remain free. This is just my opinion. I ask that you try and respect it as I try and respect other's opinions. :tiphat:

Having worked a lot of auto theft details, I can say that front plates are helpful in the recovery of stolen cars.

I think one of the main reasons for the front plate law is for the red light cams. I hate those things as much as the speed cams....

I was pulled over on I 20 west of weatherford two years ago because my friends truck did not have a front plate. He had it on his dash, and the trooper strongly advised against that. He said that in an accident, it would act as a razor blade

He gave me a warning as it was not my truck. My friend went ahead and put it on after that.

If you don't want a front plate, ride a motorcycle. :thumbs2:
