Some news stories are saying there was at least 2 hours between the accident and the shooting.
Resident is saying shotgun went off by accident.
Coroner saying the shot was to the front of face not back of head.
Lots more to this story... Like most stories.

Time for the Joe Biden defense? And I quote the VP: “Well, you know, my shotgun will do better for you than your AR-15, because you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door.” Seems that's exactly what the man in Michigan did.
Folks would better off sticking with training and advice of firearms experts, such as folks at the NRA, than to listen to a politician like the VP.

Sure looks like a bad shoot to me. I feel sorry for folks that live their lives in such terror that they feel the need to go gunning simply from a knock on the door. Yeah... there is always a slight chance, something comparable to being struck by lightning, that the person at the door is planning to do something bad but it is the person who does not knock that one should be more concerned with. Regardless, we can't shoot a person for knocking on our door. The time of day or night matters not. It is one thing to be prepared for trouble. This fellow seems to have crossed that line.

I think they said 3 x the legal alcohol limit plus marijuana. And that was hours after the crash. Don't know the neighborhood she was in but it was Detroit and I was there once and that was once too many. Still, looks very bad for the shooter. More of this story yet to play out.

I think its politically motivated.

As much as many would like to make this a politically motivated race issue, I do not believe it is. There is a difference between a 60 something year old woman shooting someone trying to get in her door and a 50 something year old male shooting a teenage female that was beating on his door in the face.

The man was stupid to shoot. He should be tried for something but stupid is not illegal.
His trial will be politically driven. This is Chicago, and there is no way he can get a fair trial.

Negligence and wrongful homicide is often the result of stupidity and can be the basis for prosecution. Regardless of the venue, it doesn't appear based on what is being reported that it was a justified homicide.
The fair trial and racial baiting arguments are completely separate issues and I'm not going to argue those.
