Seriously NJ is the pitts for guns. If they think you might have owned a gun at some point in your life, they will look for a way to throw you in jail. For heavens sakes sling shots are illegal there.
Isn't some guy from there being touted as the next POTUS?

Yes...by the Dems who want to "help" the GOP pick their next Presidential candidate.

There are no NJ politicians who are gun friendly including Christie. The State is heavily union controlled and the level of corruption within those unions is unparalleled outside of Chicago. The unions don't want guns in the hands of law abiding citizens. We had to live there for 3 years and some of our neighbors were union leaders. One of them has a son who is an LEO.

The most chilling part for any person traveling through NJ should be the Port Authority police. They control all of the bridges and airports. They have a reputation for being openly hostile to any citizen with a gun. They also engage in "vigorous enforcement" of speeds on the bridges so chances of encounter a pretty high. We have friends there and we wanted to visit with them but we convinced them to meet us on the PA side of the Delaware Water Gap rather than have us drive in NJ.

BTW, you cannot pump your own gas in NJ and there is $1,000 fine for people with animals in a car whose leashes aren't tightly fastened while driving. It really a fun place to be. :evil2:

I believe FOPA would protect you if just passing through.

If it's legal where you're coming from, and legal where you're going to, and you're not stopping in NJ for anything other than food, fuel and a restroom.

IANAL. This is my OPINION, not legal advice.
When I was there, possession of hollow points wasn't illegal. Carrying them loaded in a gun was.

NJ also prohibits the manufacture, transport, shipment, sale or disposal of a magazine that holds more than 15 rounds. There may be a federal exemption for traveling, but NJ really doesn't like citizens having the same means to protect themselves as LE.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.
