Now that is an excellent question.

If they were concerned about the constitution they wouldn't take them to begin with.

True, but there are some parts of the document that are still mostly enforced. One of the things preventing non-grandfathered bans is the requirement to pay compensation for property taken by the government. It seems like this issue should be litigated as precedent is not on the side of the gun grabbers.

Glad that's settled. Cue the dramatic responses none-the-less.
Yeah, I'm just gonna quote you in a probably vain attempt to get more people to see that it's fake before posting a response. Actually, can the OP edit the title to put "fake" in it or something?

Looks like it is unfortunately for real....

Maybe I'm tired, but how did we determine this was fake?

I looked at the OP's link and it appeared to be a notice sent to an individual and posted as such.

Added in Edit: Following the link provided by BigGuy, found the cited quotation preceded by, "This took a little digging, but on a NY forum for Officers - " Yet this is the citation that "settled" the veracity of the posted notice once and for all? Please help me with what I am missing.
It's not fake. Some people want it to be, because they can't believe something like this could happen in America.

It boggles my mind... With the 2nd amendment in place how the heck does this stuff get through?

The notices, mailed Nov. 18, also give owners the options of demonstrating the gun has been moved out of NYPD jurisdiction or modified by a licensed gunsmith to comply with the law.
How you gonna do that? Take a picture of it with a yard gnome in Texas?
Tedisco, who voted against the SAFE Act, said New York City had the five-round law in the books for about 20 years, but this is the first time he has heard complaints about the notices being sent out to gun owners.
So basically people were asked to register weapons that were technically illegal. We're surprised they're being taken away?
When Cuomo signed the law, he searched for a moderate tone saying, "Common sense can win. You can overpower the extremists with intelligence and with reason and with common sense."
Wow.. who doesn't know that the government doesn't have common sense when it comes to applying law?

Who doesn't know that the government doesn't have common sense when it comes to guns.

Or for that matter…

Who doesn't know that the government doesn't have common sense.
