Our power went out at 4am. HILCO Co-op workers worked all day clearing limbs from power lines on both of my neighbors property. Finally got power back on at 4pm. Now I have coffee, tv, internet, heat and my wife made chili for dinner. All is well.

Glad your power's back on. Not a good situation to be in.

I guess I need to quit whining, my sister lives in the Bitterroot Mountains in Montana and the wind chill there tonight is projected at -35F.

She laughed at my photos.

Spent two hours clearing my broken limbs before going to work at 1pm. Two miles to work on nothing but ice, but having been forced to grow up in upstate NY by my Yankee Carpetbagger parents, I am relatively used to it (although we left NY 20 years ago.)

I think my Sweetgum tree has had it, and I am not sure my Pecan survived.

The pic is my Sweetgum, which missed my neighbor's car by inches.

Driving home last night at 1:00 would've been a blast if I hadn't had to worry about everyone else. But I figured that after not too much longer all that slush was going to turn to ice, so I haven't set foot outside the house today.

No school, so the kids were out playing all day. Had hot chocolate with marshmallows ready for defrosting frozen fingers and frosty cheeks.

I baked cookies. Funny thing, I baked cookies while carrying and totally forgot I was wearing it. Lol. I guess it is true you can forget it is there.

We lost power at 4 am and didn't get it back until about 3 pm. Which is better than the 4;30 AM tomorrow that Oncor told us would be the time. Plus I couldn't get a circuit on my cell phone most of the day.

Went out for a walk this afternoon and we had about 2-3inches of ice.

This was in Coppell. Very thankful for power and heat now.

Yup the edge of the Tug Hill Plateau, Canadian cold air and lake effect snow. The edge of my territory as an engineer for NY Telephone Co, but worked in Rome back in the 70s and Watertown later.

What I find amazing is that after two days, the roads are still covered in ice here. I don't know about the major roads, haven't left the house.

It is slicker now - before it was sleet pellets piled up and kind of crunchy, now they are fused together and a solid sheet of ice.

As far as I know, Texans have no experience on such roads, It is like Iceland. It is Iceland.
As a Canadian, by November all Canadians have had swapped their cars' tires to Stud-less snow tires riding on cheapo 16" steel rims.

Oh god the memories as a child of each spring picking the studs out of my mothers tires so she would not get a ticket.

Just made it home from downtown Austin for a XMAS party. APD is getting ready to shut down the 35 so we made it home just in time. I saw officers from ATX to my local at the bridges, ect trying to keep us safe while they freeze. I sure hope no drunks run into any officers tonight!

Wow, we passed through Austin on 35 around 8:30-9:00 and the roads were fine. It was sleeting a little and apparently got worse not too long after we passed through.
