Houston, by definition, doesn't get cold like other places in Texas but we have our cold days.

I purchased these http://www.blackhawk.com/product/Cool-W ... 8,1361.htm mainly for hunting. They definately aren't the warmest things. They actually aren't very warm at all but for anything above 35 degrees, and especially if have pockets to shove my hands into, they really help. And if it's really cold, I have large mittens I can wear over them, or like I said, just shove them in my pockets.

I've shot pistols with them a few times. I reloaded, field stripped my pistol, cleared jambs, everything that I might need to do I practiced while wearing the gloves and they worked great. The plastic/rubber inserts in the fingers give just enough grip for shooting. I'm not going to be picking up any quarters off the ground but they certainly are fine for operating a normal pistol.

I will probably get these for next year. They didn't carry them when I purchased what I now have or I would have gone with the fleece.

The only way Im going to be shooting in freezing weather is if we get invaded by aliens so theres minimal need to blow bucks on specialized cold weather shooting gear. I figure 31 degrees is why they make indoor ranges.

No gloves here. I usually get jobs that are outside when it turns into the upper teens. I try to keep my hands in my pocket or about 1 time an hour get in my company van & warm up.
