scottmeador,

Poor security of and easy access to my health records is one of the reasons I opted out of the ACO.

I wonder where or of if Hippa laws have any relevancy to ACO's or are they given a pass like Obamacare?

Laws only work when good laws are passed and enacted, good people obey them, and when those who disobey them are prosecuted and punished.

The system is broken in many ways, from the top down.

For an ACO your personal health records are sent via the internet to a regional Health Information Exchange (HIE) which stores it for retrieval by anyone[ with access. This includes the bureaucrats in at the Center Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and their end of life navigators.
:thumbs2: One of my sisters is a doctor who runs her own private clinic...very successfully. She is considering closing or selling her clinic, because in order to accept any insurance payments, the new regulations attached to the Affordable Health Care Act, will require her to participate in the sharing of her patients medical records with the AHCA interface, making all of her patient's medical records available to anyone with access to the system. She feels very strongly that this will eventually be detrimental to her patients due to mandated levels of care by government affiliated oversight groups or agencies.
