I've never quite understood this. Typically during the purchase process you're asked if you're buying it for someone else. It is legal to buy a gun for someone as a gift as long as the person you are buying it for is legal to own said gun. The purpose of that quesiton is based on the other person putting up the money and you filling out the 4473 for the the gun because they are not able to purchase the gun legally themselves.cb1000rider wrote:I've never quite understood this. My wife did that with her two guns. She insisted on doing the 4473, because that meant they were "hers" and I couldn't swipe them from her.
Strange, this does not seem to work in reverse. I've lost two .22s and a Beretta 9mm that way...
