This is true! I know I'll get raked over the coals for saying this, but I don't feel sorry for them. My grandmother raised my mom & her 2 brothers BY HERSELF. There was no nanny & no day care. I mean honestly, what do you expect when you hire a stranger off Craig's List?

Scammers are good at sizing up marks. I imagine she knew pretty quick she hit pay dirt.

Unfortunately, the law can sometimes rule in favor of a dishonest and unscrupulous person.

I think the family should file eviction proceedings, move out and call the power company to shut off the electricity.

After she leaves change the locks and have her arrested if she comes back.

Even in Texas I could see her being rolled up in her bedding and taking a one way trip across the border. Not suggesting that anyone do that, just what I think would happen.

Taking care of a few kids for 8+ hours/day in exchange for a room? Pretty sure that doesn't work out to minimum wage. They got what they paid for.

Because if you have a spare room, the only expense in having a nanny that works for room and board is the cost of food. This is much cheaper than a day care center.
