Actually, if people did what they should the NRA would not be necessary.

This guy is wearing some kind of a leopard print coat and carrying what appears to be a yellow purse. That should be the first sign that he might be a little slow on the switch. Then he uses India, a country where gang rape and murder is epidemic, as an example of a good gun free society. Possibly a VP candidate for Hillary?

Also helps to remember that most non-gun owners you see are more or less ambivilent to the gun issue. It doesn't fall into their sphere of thought. However, TV/Movies/Media propaganda over the years has given them a negative or fearful view of guns in general. It pays to remember that when approaching them with the aim of bringing them over to our side.

I expect most people knew this already in their own words, but felt it ought to be said.

I do understand what you are saying but here is the rub. The ones who can be converted are not the ones who are actively trying to remove our arms. Know your enemy.

I don't think it's true that all the people doing the attacking know the facts. You've got too much faith in the intelligence of the population. Why are mis-information attack ads so effective? We see both sides using them... They spread like wildfire. They're effective because they trigger strong feelings and no one bothers to check the underlying facts.

I agree with CPD, "us" versus "them" across the board just divides. It doesn't educate. It makes us look like extremists.

You are right that there are people who have chosen a side and can't be convinced, but don't lock everyone in with that group.

But they trigger such feelings in the intended audience only because it stimulates their already existing biases. They're not interested in the facts because their identities are already defined and if the facts contradict the ad knowing the truth will only cause cognitive dissonance and mental discomfort. The ads don't change anyone's mind and they not intended to. The ads are solely designed to get their base to the polls. Any thinking person is already so disgusted with the sham "democracy" they don't pay any attention to these kinds of ads or believe anything a politician says until words are proven by action (which happens so rarely now as to be remarkable).
