Sec. 235.022. AUTHORITY TO REGULATE. To promote the public safety, the commissioners court of a county by order may prohibit or otherwise regulate the discharge of firearms and air guns on lots that are 10 acres or smaller and are located in the unincorporated area of the county in a subdivision.

Thanks. That's the closest thing I've seen. Of course may prohibit or regulate in a subdivision isn't quite the same as no one who owns 1 acre in unincorporated Texas can fire a gun on their land.

I don't see how municipality regulations have to do with folks living in the country unless of course they get annexed.

229.002 is the municipality one and wouldn't affect unincorporated parts. I think the other one, 235.022, says the county can regulate lots less than 10 acres, but some just don't. It will vary by county, so folks with less than 10 acres in one county may be just fine shooting on their property, while someone else in another county may not.

Those codes are all well and good, if that city passes a regulation covering it. In my area (Tarrant County, ETJ Ft Worth). there is no such regulation that I am aware of.
Our neighborhood is about 100 homes on an older subdivision between Keller and Fort Worth. It's 3 streets wide, 2 long blocks deep. Lot sizes are mostly about an acre, with a few as large as 8 acres.
A deputy who attended a couple of HOA meetings confirmed that as long as the projectile doesn't leave your property, it's legal to shoot on your property. When he was later asked what one should do about "the coyote problem" his answer was "just shoot 'em".
Might be different down around Austin, but we don't live there. Too liberal ;)

You can legally do it in area that is non-encorporated and under 10 acres as long as there are no rules prohibiting it. The prohibition would typically be county. Not all counties ban it.
Almost all cities do.. So incorporation is a bad thing there, if you're under 10 acres and are currently setup to shoot (safely) on your property.

$200/mo is a big increase in taxes, IMHO. The other problem that I've seen is that services are promised with no defined date on delivery. I know there are land owners in my area that were annexed, taxed more, and outside of the availability of police and fire, they never got services that were promised - water/electric.

For me, tying me to city services would negate my substantial investment in a deep well and septic system. Tying me to city services would incur additional costs (not to mention the monthly).

The question to ask - what are they after with the annex?

More property taxes.

I would think a lawsuit from the property owners would be in order there.
Is there any reason they can't sue for services promised and not delivered?
