Because the G43 won't have that idiotic, unusable, and unnecessary little safety lever/malfunction-waiting-to-happen that plagues both the Shield and the LC9.

Because the G43 will have same grip angle as all other Glocks (a detraction for some; a benefit for others who use Glocks extensively).

Because M&P series has suffered more quality/durability/recall issues in its short product run (~ 8 years) than Glock has in its 30+ years.

Which is why I got the No Thumb Safety model of the Shield.

I think Glock took too long on this one. I got tired of waiting on a single stack Glock so I bought a Shield. I would expect a lot of people to do the same. Perhaps some people will sell their single stacks sub-compacts and buy a Glock 43, but I won't be in that bunch, at least for now. My Shield is a tack driver. The trigger is a little bit heavier than a Glock, but it's smooth. Plus the Shield has 7 + 1 with the flush mag, 8 + 1 with the extended mag. Glock 43 is 6 + 1.

I'm at least going to wait until the holster market catches up, as it's already pretty hard to find an appendix holster I like.

I'll be in the market after the rush dies down. Never can have enough glocks.

Seems some may not know how to run an M&P,,,,,,,thousands of rounds through the FS, C, Shield and .45 midsize and not one hiccup........

Guess they must not give that with the 19 or 26. May have to call CS for mine.......

I want to check the reports on the 43 and if it's available for GSSF purchase will likely get one next year. Based on the specs I may still look into the P938 for a 9mm pocket carry gun though.

My Kahr CM9 is .75 shorter length, .25 shorter height, .1 thiner, 1oz lighter, AND COST LESS.
I think I will go on pocket carrying my CM9.

Just my opinion, because I think that Glock makes good guns, but I've only got one.....and I've got a lot of pistols.....

I think that 99% of the G43 buyers will be people who already own and carry Glocks, won't carry anything else, and who are saying to themselves, "Finally! A single stack I can trust."

Meanwhile, the rest of the polymer gun owning world is saying "Hey, look at that. Glock finally caught up with the rest of the world and produced a single stack 9mm. Too bad they didn't do that X years ago, but I've already got my XDS/Shield/Nano/PM9/CM9/P938, and I'm not going to drop another $450 on another pistol. My need has already been met."

The remaining 1% of G43 buyers will be guys who carry nothing but a J-frame and who say "Hey, would you look at that! Somebody finally made a semi-auto that's as reliable as my revolver, weighs about the same, and it will even give me an extra round and it's narrower."

I am certain that the G43 is a great little gun, built to Glock's typical standard of bulletproof reliability. But they are late to this market by many years, and that is a big hurdle to overcome. Going forward, they'll be competing against the other manufacturers who are already established in this niche. They will gain some market share over time, particularly among people for whom this will be their first gun. But honestly, it's not like Glock has set the polymer single-stack 9mm market on its head.

Better late than never sometimes rings true in manufacturing. There's a few early entries that made a big splash and are lucky to recover after lots of bad press and expense.

I believe the XDS worked out in the end, but I was excited for the Remington R51 and it sure turned some people off after failing to live up to the hype.

Sales will tell the story. This guy (whom many of you often quote) believes the 43 will set sales records.

And my personal experience with multiple full-size M&P models has also been good (not perfect, had some durability issues with a bad batch of slide & barrel Melonite failures). But the M&P line's series of failures with large LE orders (TX DPS & LA County Sheriffs off top of my head, and numerous grumblings a I've heard thru the grapevine regarding APD officers' dislike of their M&P .40s) has given it an unwanted reputation amongst the type of institutional buyers that built and continue to support Glock's stellar reputation.

I am in that camp, carrying my J frame but thinking 2 extra rounds wouldn't hurt my feelings plus 1 extra in a more convenient reload system. Time will tell as I will not be an early adopter.
