Not sure what the limit is but 2 guns is no problem.

I haven't filled out an orange tag. Unique to airports or airlines?
No, every airline has the declaration tags. Every one I have seen is orange.

Just to add to the trivia pool, last couple times I flew the tags were white (San Antonio, Tampa, Indy). Been awhile since I've seen an orange one. With the airlines in a longterm cost crunch, I suspect white ones are cheaper.

As far as number of firearms: Check the website of the airline(s) you are going to fly. Search for "firearm," "sporting goods," "restricted items," "hazardous," "ammunition," and the like. Each airline can be different.

well I in VA. now and I ahd 2 long guns and 3 handguns and had not problems getting them here , they let me put my M-4 and shotgun in the same case and I checked it. Delta did charge me 18.00 for the over sized gun case. but other then that it was not bad. I placed the hundguns in a hardsided case and place it in my suitcase . Just remember to get a UnLoaded card for each gun .

I’m flying with firearms for the first time later this year and will plan on having both my daily carry and my wife’s daily carry in one hardcase (plus mags and ammo). I wasn’t sure if there was a limit to one per person or two per person. I’d rather be the one dealing with the firearms at the airport and let my wife and kids go to the gate and meet them there later.
I have seen cases with eight handguns in them checked through, and several long guns in a golf bag container.

Theoretically you could check as many guns as the weight limit would allow.
