I don't know why. It's true.
Well, other than an emotional attachment, which could increase their worth. Or if they pull their weight and keep the rodent population down, then that would also increase their value.

and I'm tired of being thanked for my service, especially from people who have no clue.
And to stay on topic, I would have done the same thing. Not because I'm a veteran but because I love animals and despise animal cruelty (the non-caring selfish type). (I don't consider harvesting animals for food as cruel)

I love cats.
I recently had 3, but sadly one died recently.
While out cycling, I found him badly injured and covered with fire ants.
My wife and I rushed him to the vet.
He lived 3 years, but his injuries finally killed him.
I miss him.

This is good news. If the article is accurate, then Georgia does not have a "Necessity" justification/defense, at least not as broad as Texas' §9.22. I base this statement on this sentence from the article "
Current Georgia law allows someone to break a window to save a person, but not an animal."

At one time being a Veteran
did mean something. It meant you had learned self reliance, responsibility and could be counted on more so than the average person in an emergency.
Anymore, not so much.
