johncanfield, you said you don't own a 5.56 gun, but I thought all AR-15s were 5.56/.223? The only Bushmasters I know of are 5.56. As you can guess, I'm pretty ignorant about ARs.

Not all Bushmasters are 5.56/.223. There are some .308s and 300 aac blackouts. Their new ACRs are multi caliber and can be changed from 5.56 to 6.8.

If you want metal magazines, I HIGHLY recommend the Israeli Elanders / Mako Group mags.
I have never seen an equal in build quality. The white followers are excellent for function checks to show empty.
They have been flawless in my SCAR 16 / AR-15 / FS2000

Without getting into an argument a .223-5.56 might be considered light for hogs. A AR-10 style .308 perhaps might be better. Just my 2 cents.

It might be, but with proper shot placement at less than 100 yards it should be okay. Just behind the ear, if I'm not mistaken, should stop it quickly and humanely.
