I also like to go up on the roof deck of the Tremont hotel in the Strand area to have a couple of drinks in the evening. Super nice place and you can take your drink from the downstairs bar with you to the roof deck. The restaurant is good, but the service is poor for such an expensive joint... Willy G's down the street is great. For a great cheap meal, go to "the spot." Awesome burgers. Another hidden wonder is the Mosquito Cafe. Trust me.

I'll add that there is a small amusement park at the Boardwalk. I don't know the age [abbreviated profanity deleted] your daughter, but my son (5) really has a ball. It's easy to spend a good afternoon there.

Yeah, I always forget the children aspect, since I don't have any. If I was a kid I would definitely enjoy the little midway they have there. Not to mention tons of shops with little toys and trinkets.

I found my overall trip to Galveston to be a very "carry friendly" experience. The only time I didn't carry was in the bar one night, which I had planned on. Beach walking proved easy with the Galco belly band and Kahr CW9 with back up mag and spyderco knife. The rest of the time the Milt Sparks made daily carry a breeze, even in the higher temp/humidity.

We hit the Strand......very nice for shopping. Seawolf park was pretty cool and we could see alot of ships in the bay which was also a treat. We stayed at the Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort. I found the hotels very dull and run down, but it was the experience we were after. Way overpriced and smelled very perfumed.......more later, but it was a great trip overall. Especially with no kids!!!
