It is a one time in Texas only for 2016 Sheepdog Seminar in Fort Worth on the same day of our get together. If we wanted to do this instead, we can get 10 of us in for $25/each, instead of $69 individually. A friend from church is putting together a group of 10. The main speakers will be Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, Police Officer and Minister Jimmy Meeks, and Carl Chinn, a nationally recognized expert on church violence.
I wouldn't normally want to derail plans like the one's we've been making for next Saturday, but it will be a year or more before there's another opportunity to attend this seminar, and it might be well worth the cost.
Show of hands - do we want to cancel the meetup to attend this seminar? Please respond here.

I did not register for this shoot but would love to attend the Seminar on the group rate if you need someone to make 10.

Girlfriend and I were wanting to do other stuff together that day. Run a few errands, dogs to the park, etc. Lunch and some shooting fit in just fine. All day at a seminar not so much. So I'm raising my hand for the scheduled meetup.

I'll do what the group wants, but I'd like to attend the seminar. Normally, I don't think it would be a problem.....just do the seminar on another date..... but there is no other date this year. I defer to the group, since I'm the one who raised the seminar as an alternative.

I would vote to stay the course - shoot and lunch. I am looking forward to meeting you all and getting to know you in person. The seminar looks interesting, I have heard Bill Waybourne for example and he is really a terrific speaker. On the other hand, if there really is a group interest in this, I would think that scenario training such as that provided by Robbie Allmon of P2 Concepts, or Mac Mackenzie of Critical Defense Group, while more expensive, would probably be more meaningful in terms of really learning how to deal with an active killer, and to practice strategies for "run, hide, fight" and trauma care. We could put together a really phenomenal 1 or 2 day training on the subject for the members of this forum if we choose to do so.

I'm not going to the seminar, but if you guys want to reschedule the meetup, I'm OK with that.

OK, we'll stick with the original plan. BTW, I spoke to Austin. We should be at the range by 10AM, and it's OK to use Wolf Brand ammo. Just not steel core, like M855 Ball.

Sounds like we're still on for BBQ and the range then.

So range and THEN lunch? I thought it was the other way around. My wife has a 10am appt on Saturday, so she won't be able to come then.

Yeah, the range owner said if we showed up after lunch we'd probably have to stand in line. So, we meet at the range at 10AM and then go to lunch at Big Daddy's at 1PM. The reason I set a time for lunch is because some only want to go to lunch, not the range, so they need a time. I"d prefer to do it the other way around, but apparently the range gets extremely busy on Saturday afternoons.
