I agree with Wild Bill about the mom and pop places. It is a shame to see places close.
Our go to place around the Houston and Galveston area when we lived there was Kelley's. Good food and ample portions.

They went downhill over the last few years. That, in combination with what I witnessed firsthand while a very close family friend worked there (business practices, not food safety or anything) I can't say I'm sorry to see the doors locked.PBR wrote:just read story on facebook that they have closed -- some friends went by there and closed signs on doors no one there
when i worked downtown i use to eat there at least one a week (15 yrs ago or so) they were really good back then but have heard they went downhill for some time now
Once upon a time it was a decent meal. Not so much the last few times I tried to eat there.
