I hand deprime as I sort the brass. Then SS wet tumble, with some Dawn Dishwashing detergent and about a teaspoon of lemishine. Doesn't seem to matter how dirty the brass, it comes out looking like new. Once I'm done with the wash, I tumble in walnut shell for about 20min to dry it out.

Do you use corn cob after walnut and/or with any type of polish? I've read that some folks use walnut to clean the brass, then polish with corn cob and auto polish, Rooster Bright, etc.

If corn cob cleans as well as walnut, then I may give that a try. I get walnut from Clemtex in large bags, but I can't recall the weight now.

I just use corn cob with a bit of the Dillon brass polish/cleaner.

I deprime then wet tumble with SS pins, Dawn dishwashing liquid and a little Lemishine. The come out clean as a whistle and shiny but tarnish quickly after hitting the air. I then shine them up (so that I can find them after they have been shot) with corn cob (works better than walnut) and polish. FWIW, you probably got a coupon from NAPA Auto Parts in the mail that has $10.00 off on a $20.00 purchase. I used that to get some NuFinish polish at a bargain price (three bottles for $18.37 and that included sales tax).

I realize it's an old thread but in response to today's post:

If you'll use Armour All Wash & Wax instead of Dawn, and put a teaspoon or two in the rinse water, your brass won't ever tarnish... I can't distinguish the brass I cleaned Monday, from the brass I cleaned 2 years ago.

Now I use:
1) SS chips from southern shine.
2) A blob of Maguire's Wash and Wax
3) 1 Oz of Lyman Turbo sonic liquid
4) Max of 1hr for large batch.
5) in a very hot water

Seriously though, that is some good looking brass.

My finished rounds look like fine jewelry. It is absolutely unnecessary and I don't care 'cuz chicks dig it.

I deprime and tumble for about 45 minutes in walnut dust, then soak for an hour in Citric Acid, 1 teaspoon per quart of water. Get Citric Acid at Whole Foods or GNC (it's a food product so you can also wash your tomatoes in it) I suggest do them first, then the tarnished shells)

Well if you want to try it again just to see... after separation of media- i put brass into a small 1 gal bucket of hot water and add say a tablespoon of AA W&W and swirl around with my hands for a minute. The key is to not rinse it again after this with plain water... I pour out the hot brass onto a beach towel and let a small fan blow over it for a few minutes (hot brass dries fast)
