Re: Breaking**Baton Rouge multiple officers shot
It's been months since I've logged on to this forum. So many brothers have been killed in ambush style attacks. I am saving for level 4 plate armor that is capable of stopping rifle fire. Obama put an end to departments having military surplus such as Bearcats and armor. Many on this forum agreed that police don't need it as it would lead to militarization of the police. This war on cops, especially white officers such as myself is more proof that we do need the tools to protect ourselves and others. My soft armor I wear would do nothing to stop a rifle. This is why I need plate armor and thankfully a few vendors are selling it at cost for LE.

Re: Breaking**Baton Rouge multiple officers shot
I just watched the current POTUS say that we must be united.

Re: Breaking**Baton Rouge multiple officers shot
POTUS delayed his appearance by about 35 minutes, evidently to work on the content. The speech was only about four minutes long, and he took no questions. He did a good job; he stayed focused on grieving for the officers and their families, and on unifying the population of this great country.
There was no hint of a mention about gun control...I lost my own bet. And I'm glad about that.

I lost the same bet. I was sure he was going to mention gun control and he didn't. He kept it short, to the point, and I cannot believe I'm going to say this...but I agree with what he said.Skiprr wrote:POTUS delayed his appearance by about 35 minutes, evidently to work on the content. Re: Breaking**Baton Rouge multiple officers shot
Surprisingly Hillary stayed on topic.
" Today’s devastating assault on police officers in Baton Rouge is an assault on all of us. There is no justification for violence, for hate, for attacks on men and women who just put their lives on the line every day in service of our families and communities.
We must not turn our backs on each other. We must not be indifferent to each other. We must all stand together to reject violence and strengthen our communities. Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and families of the police officers who were killed and injured today."
Then Gabby Gifford spoke up.
" Yet again, an American community has been shattered by a gun tragedy.
While we are still learning all the details of exactly what happened, we know this is an attack not just on law enforcement, but on an entire community as it seeks to heal divisions, build trust, and address its shared challenges. But just as they always do, this vicious attempt to divide Americans and communities will fail.
Today is also another sad reminder that our nation remains in the grips of a gun violence crisis that touches every community and everyone – those who wear the uniform, and those who do not.
We are praying for the law enforcement officers impacted by this tragedy, for their families, and for strength for the injured. And we are praying for peace and unity and healing in the Baton Rouge community."

He is the one with blood on his hands.
He started the spread of hate and fueled racial enmity, and now he is the one to unite us? He has social munchousen syndrome.
I trust nothing that thing in WH says, and rest assured that everything he says is only to benefit his agenda. To keep our rage for cop killers down, he will urge all of us to be calm and unite? Ha, that's great.
Can't wait for him to leave our WH. He set us back 200 years.

Unfortunately, I was right about Nation of Islam and Black Panthers, BLM... It's all the same scum.

Totally expected since Gifford now gets her income from Bloomberg.jmorris wrote: Then Gabby Gifford spoke up.Yet again, an American community has been shattered by a gun tragedy...

No, Gabby. Our nation is in the grips of a violence crisis. The tool is not the issue.
Did you not even read about the mass killings in Niece, France, just three days ago? The carnage was delivered by a truck. Not a gun.
In 2014, Gabby, do you realize there were 32,675 deaths from automobile crashes? Men, women, and children? Do you realize in that same year there were 8,124 homicides committed by firearms, 5,562 by handgun, and only 248 by rifle?
And you do, I hope, realize the vast majority of those were due to gang and drug violence?
What a thought: crack down on criminal activity, and the numbers of gun homicides will plummet even further.
Never mind, Gabby, that the 2014 FBI stats show that 2,002 people were murdered with knives or blunt objects, like hammers. And 89 were strangled...that's 843% of the number of all rifle murders. Seriously.
Yep; we need an "assault rifle" ban because no one in the present administration or democrats in Congress can even define "assault rifle." If Carolyn McCarthy brings another gun bill to the floor, I sincerely hope she is shouted down from all sides for her ignorance.

There are over 13 million licensed handgun carriers in the U.S.; over 1 million in Texas.
Gabby, show me where we're the problem.
We need more like Joseph Zamudio, not fewer. Sheepdogs.Joseph Zamudio, a concealed weapon (CCW) permit holder, had a weapon on his person, but arrived after the shooting had stopped and did not draw his firearm.
This nation does not have a gun problem. It has a leadership problem.

Exactly parabelum, BHO is the lead instigator in this whole mess, he created division between police and the black community, he immediately jumped to the defense of any African American who was killed or injured by police no matter how justified it was, he made sure to put his minions front and center on every news outlet decrying this perceived injustice, and now he wants us to believe that he now has the key to relock Pandora's box. I can't express my true thoughts and feelings without violating forum rules.parabelum wrote:Sorry guys, I disagree.Flightmare wrote:I lost the same bet. Credit where it's due, he did not mention gun control.Skiprr wrote:Do we have any bets about whether or not POTUS will make some sort of mention about gun control?
I'm sure he will some time in the next few days, but so far he hasn't.
Edit: somehow I missed all the replies after your post, Skiprr. I need to go read the rest of the thread now.

So now they have named the shooter, and he is a prior service member. He also seems to have been involved with a racist group in Houston, wonder if it was Quanel again? Any chance we can get the group added to the terror watch list?

Gavin Newsome, Lt. Gov. of California, had a similar tone to his message. I won't bother posting it here, you can look it up for yourself, but he just couldn't resist blaming guns. Some of them are downright sickening and ridiculous, at the same time.jmorris wrote:Surprisingly Hillary stayed on topic.

No, concentrate on the gun. Not on the underlying issue.
