Careful with uncovered (top deck) parking during hail season.
WifeGBiv had her car nearly totaled when she parked on the top deck at DFW.
Hood and roof both had to be replaced. Both sides repaired. Amazingly, no glass breakage. Over $12,000 repair.
She said hers was the only car on the top deck with in-tact glass.

Good point. I flew with AA mostly out of A and C terminal. The parking garages at the terminal that are on the same level as the roadway where you would pick someone up are covered. You have to go up one more level for open top parking. I parked in remote south parking one winter. Came in on a red eye. Had about 1/2" ice covering my suburban. I could only open the back door then had to crawl through, start it up, and begin defrosting. My wife doesn't handle cold very well so she followed me over the seats. That was kinda priceless! :smilelol5:

I parked at DFW once in the open and when I was supposed to fly back the flight was cancelled because the planes had been destroyed at the originating airport (which was Dallas). Apparently a giant storm with huge hail hit DFW and that was the originating airport. My car looked like the Jolly Green Giant had jumped all over it with a pogo stick. I vowed never to park out in the open again. Now this, what a bummer. This type of destruction really ticks me off. My daughter's new Altima was stolen right out of her driveway and wrecked. These are not minor losses but $15,000 or so losses even after insurance kicks in.
There must be security cameras at DFW and I would certainly try to pursue that. I definitely would not leave a car out in the open in Dallas. Not unless it is one you want to get rid of.

That sucks. This confirms I need to upgrade my nano vault & never leave my car at DFW. I almost did that a few weeks ago.

I wonder if the remote parking lots are any better? They have gated/restricted access? I wonder what the break ins there are like.

Regarding hail when parked at the scareport:

A female friend of mine was flying DFW-Denver. I gave her a nice coupon for some good dollars off
so she could park at one of the slightly offsite, covered parking garages.

Well, she was in a hurry for her flight, didn't leave enough time to go to the covered lot, and parked
outside in an uncovered lot.

As her plane was on the approach back to DFW, the hailstorm hit, breaking out the front and rear
windshields on her Nissan Altima. What a shame.

That sucks. I park terminal A always, but never up top. Really sorry to hear that.
