I'm 5'11" 235lbs. I spend a long time commuting and am at a desk all day...after trying all kinds of holsters, I found that carrying at my waist just bugged me.
I ended up getting an ankle holster for my glk 26 (galco ankle lite
with a calf strap). Now I have one of these for every gun. It conceals well in jeans or slacks and many times I forget that my gun is even there. I have even run soccer practices (as a coach--so mild soccer skills in play) while wearing it.
When I am not wearing long pants, I just pocket carry my Sig P238.
If you get one, I would suggest that you get some snap caps and practice drawing/firing. I have gotten to the point where I am reasonably quick.
Good luck!

If not, get one. Even a crappy holster will be much improved with a proper gun belt. It will save you money, in the long run.
A good gun belt makes a world of difference.
As for holsters, wait until your gun collection starts to grow. Then you will be in real trouble.
My wife opened my bottom drawer last week which was my catch all drawer. She calls me in and asks "why do you need so many holsters?" My reply was that some of them were hers where she was trying them out on her guns

. What I didnt tell her was there are at least 3 for each platform I carry and probably that many or more for her 3 different guns

Only 3 per gun?
I have to keep some in boxes in the garage to avoid having to answer those types of questions.......

I answered her truthfully, "AT LEAST 3 PER GUN". Doesnt count those hidden elsewhere.

I put a couple holsters in a drawer. Now that drawer is full of holsters!

I have that feeling about my humble few too. Need to keep 'em apart from each other...

If my children were still college age I would feel better knowing they had people on campus that were able to defend them.
Secondly, as to the holster.
You are welcome about carrying at the university.
I suspect someone with more capital than me will need to start up a business on the try-out concept, but I'd be more than happy to play an active role in such an enterprise. All in the wind as they say...
