I believe it was theft not robbery.
Maybe so. I wasn't there.

Said it was tip money.....hopefully the employer replaced it.
Don't know exactly how that works (I doubt his son was hauling in $1k in tips), but I was basing my comments on the title of the thread, "My son's employer was robbed". That's different than "My son was robbed" or "The employees where my son works were robbed".
I'm sure the tip bag was full of tips given to everyone during the night and was to be slplit equally among the staff. The posting clearly states it was tip money.

This was the aggregate tips for the restaurant.

Thank you for your feedback. The owner did pay the staff their tip money. He would have lost most of his people if had not.

THANK GOD, you should post the name of the restaurant. I would gladly go there and support a local honest business. Glad there was a happy ending!! :thumbs2:

Question: there is a provision in PC 9 that you must reasonably believe that the property cannot be protected or recovered by any other means unless you use force or deadly force (or something along those lines).

Would having insurance be part of that? I assume there is a world of difference between if someone is stealing my late model truck, versus my one-of-a-kind classic 1955 Chevy. One, insurance can easily replace, the other... not so much.

So, if we reasonably believe that cash that was stolen can be "recovered" (replaced) by the business' insurance against loss such as theft, does that limit our ability to use force in such a situation as this?
