.500 S&W Revolver. Pretty sure it will knock over any steel plate. Even if you miss entirely, the muzzle flash is still likely to set fire to something and break windows for a half-mile around, so it's a generally successful thing from an entertainment standpoint.

My wife has the 5" XDM competition & does awesome on steel plates with it.
