I like the idea of having a rifle/shotgun upright (dash) mount...I'm not sure how well it would be received by Law Enforcement if you happen to be stopped for whatever reason...

Not that I am trying to be a pain about it...

Heck, my Dad put a laptop computer mount like you'd see in those types of vehicles...And caught some grief from a nieghboring county sheriff thinking my Dad was some sort of L.E. right...

Since we were re-hashing the Rita evacuation, I happened to bring my black rifle (Bushy A2 "Shorty") and about (6) 30 rnd mags for it...Thats all I needed at the time, and about 300 rounds loose...

I also had as my first grab weapon that Mossburg 500 pump, loaded with 00 buck...

Seemed like a good system...Pistol to discourage and giive me time to get to either that shotgun, or the Bushy...

I can't see anywhere where I need to improve...unless...

25mm Bushwhacker on a naval mount in the back of the truck...Now that would be impressive...(its basically the same gun they have in the Bradley's)
:D

Stevie,
I agree with the theory of using a handgun as a stepping stone for gaining access to a rifle!! I love my handguns and would not trade them for the world...but if I am faced with a large scale nasty situation...I want my shotgun! I know that this is not always practical...but during a situation such as storm evacuation, there is no excuse for not having your rifle (unless of course you do not own one). Just my opinion.
