I would have no reason to go to the theater in that mall. It is an AMC theater posted 30.06/30.07, and therefore is not welcoming to me or my friends/family. Therefore I would not have been there after the mall closed. That being said, I have not found a reason for me personally to go to a mall in a long time.

I'd call 911.
My duty is done.
I'm not an LEO.

Personally, I would not have pulled a gun in that situation. I am not under attack and there is no other deadly force being used. I am not a cop and my authority to intervene is limited.
Stomping on the head of an unconscious victim is 'use of deadly force'... however, I agree with the overall opinion of the other responses: call 911 and move to a safe location and be 'a good witness' or otherwise leave the area completely...

It just hit me. Where the heck was the usual off duty police guard I see at every theater I am ever at? Is there not any at that theater?
Where they always are. Far side of the concessions by the ticket-taker's pedestal, checking bags and purses for contraband snacks

Almost as bad as throwing pop corn at a person.

The arrested brain surgeon on the left in the pictures above let himself be
interviewed for Dallas TV news. He sure did not help himself since he was not
repentant for what he did. His excuse for stomping his victim on the head while
he was already down was "They would have done that to me."
He had been charged last year with assaulting a public employee (teacher) and he
had some lame excuse for that incident too.
For those who are not familiar with it, Stonebriar Mall is a vibrant, busy mall
in the affluent City of Frisco, Texas (Collin County).
Bringing hood rat assaults, South Dallas style, to this affluent, low crime city will not
go down well with the judge, IMHO. If the news video is played at trial, this guy
will receive even less sympathy from the judge/jury.

This just caused me to spit Diet Coke and Bluebell Sugar Free Ice cream all over my kitchen counter.

Absolutely correct. Collin County is not the place to put up with violent offenders. He will get zero sympathy from the judges here.

Secure the escape of myself and my party and call 911. This does not change if they pull a knife -- unless the knife is directed at me or my party. If escape is not possible, prepare/plan to dissuade or stop the aggressors with whatever tools are available. Execute the plan only if necessary. I won't readily go into poorly lit, densely populated rooms without some tools being on my person.

This is why I avoid crowds most of the time. The older I get the more I focus on avoiding anywhere I may get into undesirable situations. I also know myself and it would be hard to stand by and do nothing or even to just walk away and I do t want to be in that position.
