There appeared no need for him to escalate the situation as he did. Yet we cannot hear what was said and while he knocked her phone out of her hand, she punched him first. Were both in the wrong here? Then why is he the only one being charged? Immediately the civil rights activists demand felony charges. Are they correct or is this political posturing?
You sound like your siding with this idiot of a human being and justifying his actions. Somebody hits my phone out my hand in n aggressive manner I see that as a potential threat. Then he whips out a gun? He should spend a few years in jail for being a stupid person. It’s him who gives gun owners bad names.

Just a small point. The gun was out first and then was put away before smacking the phone away. At least that’s what I thought it looked like from the video. The gun was in his right hand and he smacked the phone away with his empty right hand.

The authorities have increased his charges today. IIRC, he will be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and UCW (Unlawful Carry of a Weapon).
These felonies could earn him some serious time at the Graybar Hotel, where he will be forced to practice his pugilist skills on large angry roommates.
When they find out he beat a sister, his name will be mud.

Woman attacked in Deep Ellum charged by Dallas police for damaging vehicle
DALLAS - A warrant for arrest was issued Tuesday against the woman who was attacked in Deep Ellum two weeks ago.
Dallas police charged L'Daijohnique Lee, 24, with felony criminal mischief because of the damage she did to the main suspect’s vehicle after she was attacked. The charge is a state jail felony because police have determined the damage was valued between $2,500 and $30,000.

Radio station KLIF: "The mighty KLIF" refers to the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, where it started operating in 1947. The owners had previously owned a radio station in Palestine, Texas.
