"The report, which relied on government data, surveys and media reports to estimate the size of world arsenals,"
Three sources of liers, does NOT make for a honest report!!!

GENEVA (Reuters) - The United States has 90 guns for every 100 citizens, making it the most heavily armed society in the world, a report released on Tuesday said.
Good for us!
I have to use these "smileys" because there isn't one for "gloating".

Hmm... so, 10 out of every 100 people are completely unarmed.
We still have work to do.

Not necessarily. They could have knives or other weapons.

As long as the unarmed 10 are criminals... I don't have a problem with it...

We still have work to do.
Remember, some percentage of those unarmed citizens are going to be under the age of three, and probably *should* be unarmed.

Most of us here have several guns each, and we can't imagine
anyone not having at least 1. But if a survey was taken we would
be surprized how many people not only does not own a gun, but
has never shot one.
Most of these I am talking about live in the large cities.
Think of the millions that are born, live their lives and
die in the big cities and never touch a firearm.
I would like to know what the percentage is.

The only stat I am familiar with is that about 40% of US households have a gun.

I was thinking the same thing. I only know of one family that doesn't own a single gun. Everyone else I know has at least two; most have several.
I'm thinking the number of guns are a bit low.
The last stats I've read said that over half of U.S. households have at least one gun.

Good read and comments. I agree the sources are suspect at least. I would also add that they just said "guns". That includes everything from homemade firearms to large machine guns, I would think. Not all guns are created equal.

We might also be surprised by the number of people who DO own a gun and have NEVER shot it
Lots of folks have guns... have never shot those guns... and may not have much training.

Looks like we have our work cut out for us, we need to get that ratio up above 1:1.

I'm doing my part to raise that ratio!
