I gave SPS several chances also. When I was a newbie I purchased a Springfield Armory longslide from them. I cleaned it and took it to the range and could hardly pull the trigger. Took it back to SPS and the owner tested the SA trigger pull and said it was about 10 pounds. "WOW" he said, "looks like you're going to need a trigger job". I asked the owner if he could call SA and set up a return for warranty service and he said "nope, you'll have to do it". Like a stupid newbie that I was, I opted to have him do a trigger job and install an ambi safety. He kept telling me the gun would be ready in xx days......I'd call and he'd say to come get it and when I got there he'd tell me it wasn't finished and to come back in xx days. Three weeks later I finally picked up the gun. Got home and was working the new safety and the right side just fell off. Took it back to get it fixed and it was several more weeks before the gun was fixed. I sold the darn thing at a great loss (and disclosed the issues to the buyer of course).
Then what did I do? Turned around and purchased a 9mm Springfield from them (was I STUPID or what)!!!!! Took it to the range and most of the time the rounds would not go into the chamber. Took it back to SPS to have the owner check it out. After he looked at it he handed it back to me and said, "by golly, the chamber is out of spec, real unusual for a Springfield". He again told me it was MY problem and to deal with SA.
SPS has absolutely NO AFTER SERVICE SUPPORT!!!!!!! People say to support local dealers because you get support from them that you can't get from a non-local dealer and I try to do that. But I will never spend one penny in SPS again!!!!!!!
Sporting Arms is a great dealer (in Lewisville) and stands behind their sales. They ordered me a Colt Special Combat and it looked fine and I paid and went home. Later when I was looking at it, I noticed a slight miscut in the slide (ejection port of whatever it is called). I called Colt and they said to send it back and Sporting Arms shipped it back to Colt for me so they could fit a new slide to the gun. Great after sales support.
Jeff Schramm has always provided fabulous after sales support also.

This sounds just like my SPS experience. They also farm alot out to some gunsmith in the mid west.

I have had good experiances with SPS. Have had a couple guns worked on and the result was very good. I will agree however that he is slow at getting things done. I just assumed that was because he was busy.
Sporting Arms is a good business to deal with too. However you can't go there to look, since they don't have a bricks and mortar store.
